JANUARY 2001 - OCTOBER 2007
In 2001 with Datumpress and Datum Colour Print performing well and added demand from our clients, I had the opportunity to start E3 Print with several other partners. This was a B2 Litho Printing company that printed a variety of material from corporate and retail brochures, to POS and promotional items. Clients included Charterhouse Print Management, Ignition, Tesco along with agency work. This was a very challenging company to run and was a steep learning curve in understanding how to run a successful business..
AUGUST 1999 - AUGUST 2008
Appointed Director of Datumpress Ltd. Due to the expansion of the company, we move from London to a larger location in Hatfield becoming sole prepress supplier for Charterhouse Print Management. In this time I was responsible for looking after a team of 12 Mac Operators.
RETOUCHER & PREPRESS MAC OPERATOR
MARCH 1996 - AUGUST 1999
I spent three months at Datum Digital Ltd (sister company to Datumpress) training to become a Mac Operator. I then returned to Datumpress with the responsibility to set up their new digital Repro department, being accountable for purchasing new equipment and the smooth transition from manual repro to digital prepress. New accounts were acquired which required new skills. I was responsible for attending pre-production meetings at Marks & Spencer to discuss various campaigns and product ranges. This required the retouching of their products and construction of artwork in either Illustrator or ArtPro along with liaising with different printers to ensure continuity and consistency across the range.
PLANNER & PLATEMAKER
MARCH 1989 - MARCH 1996
Start a four year apprenticeship as a Lithographic Planner and Platemaker. Learning skills such as four-colour Final Film Planning, Camera Work, Matchprints and Cromalins. Having completed my apprenticeship I developed a high understanding of colour. Accounts I was regularly working on at the time included BBC Video, Virgin Video, Barratts Homes and Nationwide Building Society that all required ability to work under pressure and to meet short deadlines.
